Lida Group convened a multi-disciplinary charrette to explore master planned communities optimized for sustainability. Using digital design tools, participants rapidly prototyped layouts for communities composed entirely of interlocking modular shipping container row houses.

The row house typology was iterated with variations in dimensions and configurations. Interior designs maximized efficient use of space through built-in furnishings. Landscape architects integrated native landscaping to protect on-site biodiversity. Centrally-located green corridors were planned to cultivate pedestrian movement within lush surroundings.

Circular plazas were designated to activate social spaces in each cluster. Edible landscaping like rooftop farms were envisioned to produce food and habitats. Micro-hydroponic systems optimized interior growing of herbs and greens. Solar canopies served as covered parking integrated with photovoltaics. Property boundaries incorporated bioswales and wetlands to filtrate water resources creatively.

Strategic siting of community amenities centered around transit networks. Precinct-scale renewable microgrids incorporated battery storage optimized for off-grid scenarios. Internet of Things devices intelligently coordinated integrated systems with consideration for demand-response programs. Drones conducted long-term infrastructure performance monitoring discreetly.

Collaboration with regulatory agencies explored innovations to reimagine building codes and standards strategically. Job training programs were discussed to facilitate emerging professions within the community. Prioritizing sustainable affordability through mass-customization and lifecycle costs was a key focus. Post-occupancy evaluations would ensure continuous improvement.

Participants envisioned permanent housing integrated harmoniously within nature. Lida Group remains committed to pioneering holistic, regenerative settlement patterns enabling this elegant vision for sustainable living worldwide. The charrette proved a vital roadmap for modernizing development approaches sustainably through collaboration unlocking collective wisdom to solve humanity’s shared housing challenges.
